He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible.

Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, "Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."

The above story is similar with the journey of our Life. We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power and recognition.

We neglect our health, time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love.

One day when we look back , we will realize that we don't really need that much, but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed.

Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition.
Life is definitely not about work! Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of life.

Life is a balance of Work and Play, Family and Personal time.

You have to decide how you want to balance your Life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts.

Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of Life, the whole aim of human existence.

So, take it easy, do what you want to do and appreciate nature.

Life is fragile,

Life is short.

Do not take Life for granted.

Live a balanced life style and enjoy Life to its fullest before it is too late.

"People in the process of earning a living should not forget to live"

Have a joyful day .. full of life.

Let Go - The Ego

There was once a learned scientist after a lot of practice and efforts developed a formula and learned the art of reproducing himself. He did it so perfectly that it was impossible to tell the reproduction from the original. Thus was successsful in his formula.

One day while doing his research realized that the Angel of Death was searching for him. In order to remain immortal he reproduced a dozen copies of himself. The reproduction was so meticulous that all of them looked exactly like him. Now when this Angel of death came down, he was at a loss to know which of the thirteen before him was the original scientist, and confused, he left them all alone and returned back to heaven.

But, not for long, for being an expert in human nature, the Angel came up with a clever idea. He said to the scientist addressing all thirteen of them, "Sir, you must be a genius to have succeeded in making such perfect reproduction formula of yourself. However, I have discovered a flaw in your work, just one tiny little flaw."

The scientist immediately jumped out and shouted, "Impossible! Where is the flaw?" "Right here" said the Angel, as he picked up the scientist from among the reproductions and carried him off.

The whole purpose of the scientist and his formula of reproduction failed as he could not control his pride and lost his life.

So check out friends, while your Knowledge and Skills takes you to the top of the ladder and make you successful, but the three letter word "EGO" will pull you down immediately. Let go your Ego.

Now, Let us ponder on some of our Ego too?

Do I have it?
What is it about?
Why do I have it?
What purpose does it solve?
Whom does or will it affect?
What consequence can it have within your organization/team/colleagues?
What consequence can it have within your family and its members?
How will your relationship get affected because of it?
Do I know people or situations or events where people have fallen because of their ego? What can I learn from it?
How can I overcome it?
What do I need to do to "Let go – The Ego"?
Friends please do share your learning from the above and learn from it.

WHY EMPLOYEES LEAVE ORGANISATIONS ?

WHY EMPLOYEES LEAVE ORGANISATIONS ? - Azim Premji, CEO- Wipro

Every company faces the problem of people leaving the company for better pay or profile.

Early this year, Mark, a senior software designer, got an offer from a prestigious international firm to work in its India operations developing specialized software. He was thrilled by the offer.

He had heard a lot about the CEO. The salary was great. The company had all the right systems in place employee-friendly human resources (HR) policies, a spanking new office, and the very best technology, even a canteen that served superb food.

Twice Mark was sent abroad for training. "My learning curve is the sharpest it's ever been," he said soon after he joined.

Last week, less than eight months after he joined, Mark walked out of the job.

Why did this talented employee leave ?

Arun quit for the same reason that drives many good people away.

The answer lies in one of the largest studies undertaken by the Gallup Organization. The study surveyed over a million employees and 80,000 managers and was published in a book called "First Break All The Rules". It came up with this surprising finding:

If you're losing good people, look to their immediate boss ..Immediate boss is the reason people stay and thrive in an organization. And he 's the reason why people leave. When people leave they take knowledge, experienc e and contacts with them, straight to the competition.

"People leave managers not companies," write the authors Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman.

Mostly manager drives people away?

HR experts say that of all the abuses, employees find humiliation the most intolerable. The first time, an employee may not leave, but a thought has been planted. The second time, that thought gets strengthened. The third time, he looks for another job.

When people cannot retort openly in anger, they do so by passive aggression. By digging their heels in and slowing down. By doing only what they are told to do and no more. By omitting to give the boss crucial information. Dev says: "If you work for a jerk, you basically want to get him into trouble. You don 't have your heart and soul in the job."

Different managers can stress out employees in different ways - by being too controlling, too suspicious, too pushy, too critical, but they forget that workers are not fixed assets, they are free agents. When this goes on too long, an employee will quit - often over a trivial issue.

Brains !!!!!!!

SIt was a sports stadium.

Eight Children were standing on the track to participate in the running event.

* Ready! * Steady! * Bang!!!

With the sound of Toy pistol , all eight girls started running .

Hardly have they covered ten to fifteen steps , one of the smaller girls slipped and fell down , due to bruises and pain she started crying.

When other seven girls heard this sound, stopped running, stood for a while and turned back , they all ran back to the place where the girl fell down.

One among them bent, picked and kissed the girl gently and enquired ' Now pain must have reduced' . This is really a great message... spread it!

We can't do this ever because we have brains!!!!!!!!!

LATEST ICC RULES

(1) Ricky Ponting – (THE TRULY GENUINE CRICKETER OF THE CRICKET ERA AND
WHOSE INTEGRITY SHOULD NOT BE DOUBTED) should be considered as the FOURTH
UMPIRE. As per the new rules, FOURTH UMPIRE decision is final and will over
ride any decisions taken by any other umpires. ON-FIELD umpires can seek
the assistance of RICKY PONTING even if he is not on the field. This rule
is to be made, so that every team should understand the importance of the
FOURTH UMPIRE.

(2) While AUSTRALIAN TEAM is bowling, If the ball flies anywhere close
to the AUSTRALIAN FIELDER(WITHIN 5 metre distance), the batsman is to be
considered OUT irrelevant of whether the catch was taken cleanly or
grassed. Any decision for further clarification should be seeked from the
FOURTH UMPIRE. This is made to ensure that the cricket is played with
SPORTIVE SPIRIT by all the teams.

(3) While BATTING, AUSTRALIAN players will wait for the ON-FIELD UMPIRE
decisions only (even if the catch goes to the FIFTH SLIP as the ball might
not have touched the bat). Each AUSTRALIAN batsman has to be out FOUR TIMES
(minimum) before he can return to the pavilion. In case of THE CRICKETER
WITH INTEGRITY, this can be higher.

(4) UMPIRES should consider a huge bonus if an AUSTRALIAN player scores
a century. Any wrong decisions can be ignored as they will be paid huge
bonus and will receive the backing of the AUSTRALIAN team and board.

(5) All AUSTRALIAN players are eligible to keep commenting about all
players on the field and the OPPONENT TEAM should never comment as they
will be spoiling the spirit of the AUSTRALIAN team. Any comments made in
any other language are to be considered as RACIALISM only.

(6) MATCH REFREE decisions will be taken purely on the AUSTRALIAN TEAM
advices only. Player views from the other teams decisions will not be
considered for hearing. MATCH REFREES are to be given huge bonus if this
rule is implemented.

(7) NO VISITING TEAM should plan to win in AUSTRALIA. This is to ensure
that the sportive spirit of CRICKET is maintained.

(8) THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: If any bowler gets RICKY PONTING - "THE
UNDISPUTED CRICKETER WITH INTEGTIRY IN THE GAME OF CRICKET" more than twice
in a series, he will be banned for the REST OF THE SERIES. This is to
ensure that the best batsman/Captain will be played to break records and
create history in the game of CRICKET.

These rules will clarify better to the all teams VISITING AUSTRALIA.

Younsters or oldsters - Which is best

Why do we call perosns young or old because of the notion we have been taught to think that old is useless and young can perform well. Anyone who talks about the difference has to evaluate the strengths and weakness each group has in an organisation , and arrive at whether younsters are better or oldsters are better. I think we should banish this thought altogeher.

We cannot run an organization solely with yougsters or solely with oldsters. We need motley of both the groups, allocating activities to get rsults from both the groups. No individual gets into an organisation with treasure of experinece. Experience gained in one organisation is taken to another organiztion to survive and succeed. Experience also depends on variety of factors, and the more important is exposure to multifarious tasks and not stereotyped ones.

Whilst youngsters work hand in hand with oldsters, they get a chance to have hands-on experience, and when the oldsters leave or resign, the youngsters are well groomed to replace. Mind you, mental maturity does come age and exposure, exosure not only to problems but to people as well, and people of all hues.

Telling the old to listen to the youngsters or telling the youngsters to listen to the oldsters, is not motivation. Motivation comes in different shapes and sizes, and each organization has to work out what is best suited to their managers, youngsters and oldsters alike. Motivation done properly and thoughtfully, will propel everyone to function to the best of his or her ability. Motivation is meant to manage the compnay; motivation is not meant to divide the groups through words!

What matters is contribution to the growth of the company, whether one is in his or her 20s or in his or her 50s. Tatas allowed employees to work beyond the age of retirement. Irani, Russy Mody served the company upto 75 years.
The other day I heard soneone in BPO say that he was having a chat with an American who was 75 years old. He joined the company at 25, and he is still serving well. Donald Trump employs many oldsters, one among, a lady, is 82 years.

Warren Buffet, in his 70`s now, is looking for a replacement for the past three years. He is unable to find one in the age group of 40 and less; but decided to recruit four persons in his place, as he wanted to retire from his occupation.
He interviewed many in the age group of 30 and 40 but none was found suitable to replace him.

Even in family owned companies, the youngsters are not alloed to be at the helm of the company. They are asked to learn the ropes before they are ready to take on bigger challanges.

Best Poem of 2006 - UN

Nominated by UN as the best Poem of 2006 - Written by an African Kid

When I born, I black

When I grow up, I black

When I go in Sun, I black

When I scared, I black

When I sick, I black

And when I die, I still black

And you white fellow

When you born, you pink

When you grow up, you white

When you go in sun, you red

When you cold, you blue

When you scared, you yellow

When you sick, you green

And when you die, you grey

       And you calling me colored??

Forced Ranking

Hillary and Tenzing were like two wheels of a bicycle. The front
wheel got there first, but not because it was superior.

When a team outgrows individual performance and learns team
confidence, excellence becomes a reality. (Joe Paterno)

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another.
(Charles Dickens)

Since I have no craving for the fruits of actions, actions do not
contaminate me. (Bhagwadgita)

One never notices what has been done: One can only see what remains
to be done. (Marie Curie)

Beware so long as you live, of judging people by appearances. (Jacob
Braude)

Men judge more by the eye than by the hand, for everyone can see and
few can feel. Everyone sees what you appear to be, few really know
what you are. (Niccolo Machiavelli)

All that is gold does not glitter: not all that wander are lost: The
old that is strong does not wither; Deep roots are not reached by the
frost. (JRR Tolkien)

Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent instantly
recognizes genius. (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)

Only a mediocre person is always at his best. (Somerset Maugham)

Let us realize that the privilege to work is a gift, the power to
work is a blessing, the love of work is success. (David O Mckay)

I dont care what people think of me; that is something I cannot
control. What is important is what I think of myself. I always
believe that one should never fall in ones own eyes. (Priya
Tendulkar)

Rather fail with honour than succeed by fraud. (Sophocles)

It is better to deserve honours and not have them, than to have them
and not deserve them. (Mark Twain)

Dignity consists not in possessing honours, but in the consciousness
that we deserve them. (Aristotle)

This system encourages a culture where the ultimate goal is getting a good
appraisal, where all that matters is to make an impression with the
presentation, being like-minded, knowing the right people, tact,
(sycophancy, yes-man-ship, apple-polishing, etc are the bad words). The
satisfaction of working to the best of ones ability is actually most
important.

A strong advocate of Forced Ranking may justify that all of us are not
equal, just as the five fingers of the hand are not equal, but only a
person familiar with Karate knows the importance of the little finger in
making a fist to deliver an effective punch. Similarly, each individual
brings unique talents to the team and enriches it in ways that cannot be
quantified, as long as all are engaged- which is the major challenge for
the leadership.

Training is for animals, and Learning is for humans, so why must the
Carrot and Stick approach be used with humans?

Newton discovered gravity when he was lying under an apple tree. Similarly
Archimedes discovered specific gravity when he was in a bathtub and came
out shouting Eureka. These discoveries were unthinkable had they been
working for the next appraisal.

I once had to decide whether a candidate was fit to join Special Forces
or not. He had passed all tests with distinction and I thought he was fit,
enthusiastic and suitable. But when I mentioned this to my team of
instructors, they sighed and said it was OK if I thought so, but they had a
very different view; the Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Instructors said
that they always found the individual making some excuses; the
Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Instructors said that this individual flatly
refused to follow their instructions. He conserved his energy to impress
only me. He worked only under supervision, when he knew that he was in the
spotlight and his efforts were being observed by the person who mattered,
thus he was unsuitable for small team Special Forces operations where
team-spirit, trust, integrity and reliability are of utmost importance.
Small Team Special Forces operations are recognized as extremely effective.

We need to choose between encouraging formation of Islands of Excellence
and helping create a sea of Excellence

Breaking Your Glass Ceiling

Some drops for your bucket...... .

Reaching for the Top with Everyday Tools

Do you feel that you've gone as far as you can with your current
employer? Despite knowing that you have much more potential, is
there a limit to where "people like you" can go in your organization?

If so, you've hit what's known as the "glass ceiling." This is the
point at which you can clearly see the next level of promotion –
yet, despite your best effort, an invisible barrier seems to stop
you from proceeding.

Traditionally, the glass ceiling was a concept applied to women and
some minorities. It was very hard, if not impossible, for them to
reach upper management positions. No matter how qualified or
experienced, they simply were not given opportunities to further
advance their careers.

Today, there are many more women and minorities in powerful
positions. However, the glass ceiling is still very real. And it's
not always limited to gender or race.

Have you been pushed up against a glass ceiling? This can happen for
many different reasons. Are you too much the champion of change? Do
you have difficulty communicating your ideas? Are you quieter and
less outgoing than the people who get promotions?

Whatever the reason, you have a choice. You can accept your
situation and be happy with looking up and not being able to touch
what you see… or you can smash the glass with purpose and
determination.

If you do, indeed, want to break through that glass, here are some
steps to take.

Identify the Key Competencies within Your Organization

Key competencies are the common skills and attributes of the people
in your company's upper levels. These skills are often tied closely
to the organization' s culture and vision.

Companies that value innovation and strive to be leaders will
probably promote individuals who are outgoing, risk takers, and not
afraid to "tell it like it is." However, if you work for a
conservative company (such as a publicly-owned utility) chances are
that top management are analytical thinkers, with a reputation for
avoiding risk and making careful decisions.

Ask yourself these questions:

What are the values of your organization?

What behaviors does your company value and reward?

What type of person is promoted?
Understand what sets your company and its leaders apart. This is the
first step toward discovering how to position yourself for a top
leadership role.

VIPASSANA A BIG NECESSITY NOW

Hi Friends, Vipassana meditation is now became a necessity along with blessing in our life…

I think that u all know about the incident of "EURO INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL"(gurgaon) where students of 8th class shoot their classmate….

Imagine guys it is really an incredible incident…8th class student is almost in his/her childhood phase but the work they did & the way in which they did…really unbelievable it seems the work of any professional killer…

But we cant say that child was wrong solely or not because he was under the pressure of the victim(killed) child who allegedly used to bully him at school…"DON'T U THINK GUYS THAT BOTH CHILDREN NEEDED PEACE OF MIND" & not only these two so many incidents happen in this country which goes unreported…

We are living in incredible INDIA, a developing country adopting western culture also "Are we adopting this?? Are we developing in this direction?? Who will take initiative to really improve everyone??" WELL THE ANSWER IS - All of us have to take initiative & to avoid such accidents & lot of other incidents which is possible by only one way "WE ALL SHOULD HAVE PEACE OF MIND SO THAT WE CAN OVERCOME OUR AGRESSION, CAN CONTROL OUR ANGER & CAN LIVE HAPPY WHICH WE CAN ACHIEVE BY EITHER MEDITATION, PRAYER, OR YOGA"

So I request u all to be aware & do aware others also & ENCOURAGE about these techniques like "VIPASSANA MEDITATION" & others so that we can get PEACE OF MIND & other benefits & can also give this priceless thing to our children.

Vipassana meditation is therefore now became NECESSITY also along with BLESSING

And after this incident I have some QUESTIONS FOR ALL PARENTS???

1. Is it correct thing to keep such weapons like GUN at a place that is approachable by child?

2. Can't we give our child an ENVIRONMENT so that s/he can discuss his/her problems with us?

3. Can't we give them QUALITY TIME so that they really think that somebody is very concerned to them?

4. Are we giving enough CARE to our child or even that much amount of care to our child that we got from our parents when we were at childhood stage?

5. Are we protecting our child from side effect of such movies & TV programs

From which our child learning all bad or such things?

TODAY'S CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE & FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY So its HIGH TIME now lets promise to our self that we all will take initiative & really make an "INCREDIBLE INDIA" which be superior among all countries in its VALUES along with other good things…

A GREAT TEAM

The word TEAM,is used and misused& God forbid some times even abused in an organization. Team-based decisions ( some call it think tanks) or group -think, an also lead to decisions going off tangent too. And the team leader gets the boot-

There are thoughts, ideas feelings beliefs in the agenda in team building ( and at the end of the day some times it is all about "disagree to agree situations!) these are also interrelated and can contribute to enhancement of productivity in th work place.

Let us understand the life cycles of Teams.

The beginning:- it all starts with an idea which any one can generate- but needs support and action.

The Process- The birth starts with a new born team, the group starts learning and development of the idea/plan identifies the opportunity offered and the desired results of coming together.

The Experimentation - Goes to the next step - may be the adolescence stage, where every one in the TEAM starts to explore each ones roles and core competence of the group. And the best time to write down the goals and character of the group.

The Focus- Is now on being productive and the right time to start on the the clear path and directions - start meeting regularly , map and demonstrate the progress.

The Synergy- A matured team evolves, slowly the burning out manifests, and the appropriate time to induct new blood and youngsters and new members to the team.

The Success: Party time! Celebrate the results, achievements and high- performance and echo " wow !Job well done!"

(Beware- a low -performance teams- just fade away! - So put lot of teeth and muscles.)

There are several other guidelines which can be and needs widespread commitment and and every one must accept and step into a win- situation .

Biggest hug....

Rajiv and Mona are flying to Australia for a two-week vacation to
celebrate their 40th anniversary.

Suddenly, over the public address system, the Captain announces,
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am afraid I have some very bad news. The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move.

"Sensei," the boy finally said, "Shouldn't I be learning more moves?"
"This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know," the sensei replied.

Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept
training. Several months later, the sensei took the boy to his first
tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match.

Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals. This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the sensei intervened. "No," the sensei insisted, "Let him continue."

Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made a critical mistake: he
dropped his guard. Instantly, the boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the match and the tournament. He was the champion. On the way home, the boy and sensei reviewed every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind.

"Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?" "You won for two reasons," the sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grab your left arm."

The boy's biggest weakness had become his biggest strength.

"Sometimes we feel that we have certain weaknesses and we blame god, the circumstances and our self for it but we never know that our weakness can become our strength one day. Each of us is special and important,so never think you have any weakness, never think of pride or pain, just live your life to its fullest and extract the best out of it!"

Cheers,
